Hippos are one of the most iconic animals in Africa, and yet they are difficult to capture in any sort of elegant photograph. I wanted to create an image that would bring the magic of seeing them into your home, and this beautifully reflected pond created the perfect backdrop for this female hippo’s portrait. Below the surface, at least 5 other hippos including a baby, were resting. But by the stillness of the water, you’d never know - so much more to the scene than meets the eye.

Prints arrive ready for a standard store bought frame, although custom framing is recommended for the Extra Large prints, as there is no border and the frame must fit perfectly.
